Super-vision contact lenses allow their owners to see in the dark – even with their eyes closed

Scientists have developed night vision contact lenses that they claim can give people 'super vision'.

These lenses, which use nanoparticles to absorb low-frequency light and then emit it in the visible spectrum, can allow wearers to see infrared wavelengths that are normally invisible to the human eye.

And unlike conventional night vision goggles, these lenses don’t require a power source. The researchers presented the new lenses May 22 in the journal Cell Press.
