Sky and Freeview customers will be able to get a major upgrade to their TV experience thanks to an update from Channel 5.
TV fans across the UK are about to enjoy some exciting changes. It has just been revealed that Channel 5 is updating its current service with new entertainment. The TV provider says it is bringing together its linear and online My5 services under the single name '5'.
The update promises to offer 15 extra channels to watch at home, with content available on all leading TV platforms including Sky, Virgin Media, Freeview and the new Freely service, which uses the internet instead of the old-fashioned antenna.
Update 5 will also be available to owners of streaming devices like Roku and Fire TV Stick.
The 15 new Fast Action Streaming (FAST) channels confirmed to include Police Interceptors, 5 Cops, Bargain Loving Brits, Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly, The Yorkshire Vet, Geordie Shore, Catfish, Teen Mom, MTV Reality and Milkshake!.

More channels will join them throughout the year, and UK residents will also be able to enjoy a host of series, such as The Good Wife, Dexter and The Following.
“5 will include a significantly expanded content offering from Paramount brands, including BET, CBS, Comedy Central and MTV Entertainment Studios,” the network said in a statement.
Sarah Rose, President of 5 and Head of Paramount UK Country, said: “This is the start of a new and exciting era for 5 as we bring together our linear and streaming services under one clear brand. Everything our audiences and advertisers already love about Channel 5 will underpin this relaunch – but there will be so much more, with extensive content from the Paramount family and beyond, new live channels and a completely new user experience for our streaming product.”

And Ben Frow, 5's chief content officer, added: “We always have our audience's views at heart and the merger of Channel 5 and My5 into 5 reflects our commitment to giving them the ability to watch or stream content in the format they choose.”
The rollout of version 5 to devices and homes across the UK starts today and will continue over the next few months, so stay tuned.
