After a chairlift jest took a frightening spin, a skier was observed hanging 65 feet above ground.

The event unfolded Feb. 24 at Big Bear Lake in California, as reported by the SWNS news outlet. Roula De Miranda-Arce, 21, was on the lift alongside her twin sister and a friend.

Big Bear Mountain Resort verified the occurrence in a declaration distributed to Fox News Digital.

“At about 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, a 21-year-old female skier got on Chair 9 at Bear Mountain safely. The resort stated that at some point during her ride to the summit, she failed to adhere to proper safety guidelines and became suspended from the ride.”

The organization continued, “The guest and her sister, who was on the ride with her, confessed to fooling around as the reason she became suspended. Once staff became aware of the circumstance, they acted quickly to halt the ride and let everyone off once it arrived at the top terminal.”

Authorities stated that the skier was checked by ski patrol as a safety measure and did not suffer considerable injuries.

In an effort to playfully frighten her sister, De Miranda-Arce slipped from the moving chair, intending to hang for a moment before pulling herself up, SWNS stated.

However, the weight of her skis made it impossible for her to hoist herself back onto the seat — leaving her suspended as the chair continued upwards.

The video depicts the young woman dangling in the air as her sister and friend hold her arms tightly, stopping her from falling.

“I believed that I was going to die or become a paraplegic,” she stated.

The young woman conveyed that she started shouting as the strain on her arms increased.

“I was yelling at some point, ‘Just let me go,’ because it felt like my arms were going to break,” she said.

“And I’m thankful my sister and my friend didn’t listen to me.”

The pair were able to hold her for about two minutes until the chairlift made it to the crest of the slope — where ski patrol workers were there to help her.

“It’s unbelievable what your body does in a fight or flight situation,” she stated.

The resort noted that the incident serves as a reminder for guests to pull down the safety bar and steer clear of possibly hazardous conduct while on lifts.

Fox News Digital previously covered another unsettling chairlift incident in California earlier this year.

A 12-year-old girl was found dangling from a ski lift at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort before dropping to the ground in a scary instant captured on video.

The footage displayed ski resort employees hurrying to set up cushioning and a safety net below her as she struggled to hold on, even though she eventually missed a majority of the net as she fell.

Her mother later expressed that the girl “miraculously survived without any broken bones or major injuries” — terming it a traumatic but accidental occurrence.

Bonny Chu of Fox News Digital offered reporting.
