It marked a Christmas arrival that didn’t prolong its stay.
A Burmese python, previously observed in a Miami-Dade locality, was taken out just prior to Christmas after a local on a stroll noticed the serpent hidden within an areca palm alongside a house and notified a reptile expert.
The creature’s extraction occurred after community members grew increasingly uneasy regarding its nearness to homes, pets, and children as the holidays drew nearer.
Footage from the location showcased astonished reactions from closeby residents as the python was removed from the palm.
“Oh gosh, oh my gosh,” an unnamed female can be heard exclaiming as the serpent appeared.

Michael Ronquillo from Humane Iguana Control recognized the serpent on video as a Burmese python and detailed how it likely infiltrated the residential zone.
“Therefore, this is a Burmese python that was entering this neighborhood. It most likely arrived by a nearby waterway. Therefore, we’re pleased we were able to seize it,” Ronquillo stated.
While inhabitants seemed worried by the snake’s dimensions, Ronquillo remained composed while handling it.
“Yeah, I believed it would be larger,” he expressed while managing the reptile.
Ronquillo commented that the python’s position rendered the circumstance especially perilous because it was tucked deep within an areca palm that stood directly beside a house.
“It was so far inside this areca palm that it could easily seize someone’s animal or strike a person. Fortunately, a walking neighbor kept watch over it to discern where it concealed itself,” Ronquillo stated.

“The areca palm was actually right by the residence, so it was quite hazardous,” he supplemented.
The python measured “approximately 6½ feet in length and weighed around 30 pounds,” according to Ronquillo.
Inhabitants were particularly troubled regarding the probable hazard to their families if the snake persisted in the locality.
“Since it’s not a very typical event, they were quite astounded to observe such a substantial snake in their area. They were primarily concerned regarding pets and small children,” Ronquillo mentioned. “They were also apprehensive if it were to deposit eggs it could have been much more severe.”
Ronquillo expressed that taking away the snake was dangerous due to its spot inside the palm.
“The spot where I was concealed — it was quite risky, given that it was challenging to ascertain where the head resided, with so many palm stalks that the areca possesses,” he stated.

In spite of the peril, Ronquillo claimed experience has an impact.
“Undertaking iguana removal and python removals habitually, you simply grow accustomed to managing them. It’s a thrill for us,” he stated.
Should the python have remained in the vicinity, Ronquillo declared, it could have displayed a grave menace to animals and wildlife.
“It would commence consuming felines and native fauna such as opossums and raccoons,” he stated.
Ronquillo announced that python appearances in populated areas are turning out to be more prevalent.
“It’s evolving to be quite typical, there’s been a minimum of one to two removals each month in metropolitan zones,” he stated. “About five months prior, we had taken out another python in Doral, which was instigating alarm as well.”
He cautioned residents against attempting to handle a python independently.

“They have roughly 100 exceptionally sharp teeth oriented backwards [to] lock their prey,” Ronquillo stated. “Suffering [a] bite can be challenging to eliminate or lethal if the python is very substantial,” he contributed.
In the event that inhabitants spot a python, Ronquillo advised they should prevent interference.
“They should maintain vigilance and not bother it so it doesn’t dart off,” he stated. “And once more, [do] not endeavor to seize [it] if you lack the know-how.”
Ronquillo stated that proficient specialists are optimally outfitted to manage intrusive snakes securely.
“Educated python extraction firms similar to ourselves possess the understanding and competence to execute the task appropriately and securely,” he stated.
“Being an intrusive species, it’s additionally vital to euthanize it humanely, as expressed on the FWC [Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission] webpage,” he included.
