Law enforcement in Commerce City, Colorado, have stated they were as astonished as drivers this week when a unicyclist juggling burning objects transformed an occupied crossing into a spontaneous public presentation— an occurrence the department playfully remarked was “definitely not anticipated.”

The Commerce City Police Department distributed aerial drone video and photographs of the peculiar scenario after receiving numerous calls from motorists who observed the male juggling ignited batons while riding a unicycle amid the traffic near U.S. 85 and 60th Avenue.

“This announcement was surely not expected, but here we are,” the department expressed in a social media post. “The crossing of U.S.-85 and 60th isn’t quite the Las Vegas Strip… or is it?”

According to police reports, the performer traveled through the median and marked pedestrian lane while vehicles paused at the traffic signal, garnering both interest and worry from drivers.

“We received a number of calls the other day when drivers were treated to some stoplight diversion presented by this flame-juggling unicyclist,” police stated.

Authorities documented the scene using an unmanned aerial vehicle, which displayed the man balancing on the unicycle as flames flickered close to nearby vehicles. While acknowledging the talent shown, stating it was “quite impressive,” police clarified the spectacle exceeded legal bounds.

“Our drone documented his act, which was both notably impressive and quite unlawful,” the department articulated, referring to illegal presence in the median and obstructing traffic by not vacating the pedestrian lane promptly.

Law enforcement stated they routinely perform control measures at the crossing to ensure that pedestrians peddling merchandise or services are not interfering with the flow of traffic, pointing out that reports akin to this are uncommon.

“We don’t often obtain reports such as this anymore… actually to be truthful… we have NEVER obtained a report exactly like this one,” the post expressed.

The department concluded its communication on a cheerful note, while nonetheless reminding the populace that performing with fire amidst traffic is discouraged.

“So let’s all pause to acknowledge this man’s skills,” police posted, before adding: “Then all concur that we will refrain from engaging in activities such as this. Agreed?”
