A delivery driver for Domino’s is in custody after police allege he transformed a standard pizza delivery into a violent altercation, reportedly using his automobile to strike a customer amidst a heated argument concerning the absence of a gratuity.

Zachary Nicholus Walton, aged 36, was apprehended on April 29 in Fulton, and he is currently facing several felony charges. These include first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and leaving the scene of an accident. Official jail records indicate he is being held without the possibility of bail.

As per a probable cause affidavit, the incident transpired at approximately 7:21 p.m., when law enforcement officers responded to a report of a collision resulting in injuries at a residential property.

A witness informed authorities that the Domino’s driver became incensed during the delivery process and impacted the complainant with his vehicle.

Upon the officers’ arrival, they engaged with the victim and a witness, both of whom recounted a confrontation that rapidly escalated. The victim stated to the police that Walton became furious due to the lack of a tip, which precipitated the dispute.

Investigators indicate that surveillance footage captured Walton initiating the altercation, uttering offensive language, and labeling the victim and witness as “f—ing rude.” He allegedly further provoked them, daring them to act by saying, “What are you going to do, b—-? Come get me,” prior to returning to his vehicle.

However, the situation did not conclude there.

According to the affidavit, Walton entered his vehicle and began to reverse towards the road. At this juncture, the victim was proceeding along the driveway and was not impeding Walton’s departure.

Authorities assert that Walton, who was almost entirely positioned on the roadway, then shifted the vehicle into drive and deliberately accelerated forward, colliding with the victim.

The impact propelled the alleged victim onto another vehicle, presumably to avert more severe harm. Police reported that the victim sustained evident injuries to his hand and complained of additional soreness and potential abrasions to his shin.

Walton then purportedly made a swift escape at a high velocity without reporting the incident to the authorities.

Officers later located him at a nearby Domino’s establishment, where he confessed to driving towards the victim but contended that his intention was merely to “scare him,” according to judicial documents.

Investigators noted that Walton possesses a prior conviction in Callaway County for domestic assault and false imprisonment, for which he had previously served time in jail.

Law enforcement officials stated that Walton’s conduct, including the deliberate use of a vehicle during a confrontation and his subsequent flight, demonstrated a disregard for the well-being of others and suggests he presents a threat to the victim and the wider community.
