Police Division Chief Dean Elliott communicated to KSNB-TV that the circumstance was “absolutely an unusual incident.”
“It seems the departed opened the door with the intention of reaching further out of the window for payment processing,” he stated.
“We are uncertain if the vehicle lunged forward or what transpired, but he became trapped between the door’s edge and the drive-thru window’s ledge,” Elliott further explained.

A staff member at McDonald’s attempted to rescue the man by jumping through the passenger side of the vehicle, but the undertaking to release Dickinson was unsuccessful, Elliott told KSNB. The employee also sustained injuries during the attempted rescue.
The matter is still being examined.
Dickinson underwent a right leg amputation in 2021, as his daughter indicated on Facebook, further stating that he was equipped with a prosthetic limb a few months thereafter and relearned the process of walking. She did not specify the reason for the leg’s removal.
His loved ones commemorated “his affection” on their inaugural Christmas without him, recalling his eagerness “to assist and be present when it truly mattered.”

“A talented and diligent mechanic, Michael took satisfaction in his profession and possessed an aptitude for repairing items that were non-functional. This mirrored his character – dependable, practical, and committed,” his family penned.
“Although his existence was prematurely terminated, Michael’s affection, allegiance, and benevolence will endure within the hearts of his relatives and acquaintances. He will be profoundly mourned and forever cherished,” the announcement appended.
