Scientists have warned that an uncontrolled spacecraft weighing half a ton will soon fall to Earth.
The probe in question is called Cosmos-482. It could enter the atmosphere of the blue planet as early as this week.
CNN writes about a potential event predicted by scientists for May 10.

A fragment of the Soviet apparatus, which failed on its way to Venus more than 50 years ago, is expected to fall to Earth this week, MIA Rossiya Segodnya cites the publication.
According to experts, the spacecraft could crash onto the human planet in a few days – on May 10.
According to their information, this is a descent vehicle designed to land on the surface of Venus.
A certain risk cannot be ruled out. First of all, for densely populated areas of cities, where the device launched half a century ago could fall.
According to experts, the device was created for landing on Venus, where the atmosphere is much denser than on Earth and the temperatures are much higher.
Therefore, “Cosmos-482” is distinguished by its increased strength – it can withstand even the most extreme conditions.
This means that there is a very high probability that even after passing through the Earth's atmosphere, some parts of the apparatus will survive.
Preliminary calculations by scientists have shown that parts of the module could fall on an area including Egypt, Turkey, Syria and Azerbaijan.
If the entire apparatus reaches the surface of the earth, the impact force could be comparable to a small explosion equivalent to TNT.
