Passengers traveling from Amsterdam to the Caribbean noticed a rat running around their cabin.
The KLM flight was heading to Aruba, from where it was then scheduled to continue to the island of Bonaire.
Passengers waiting to board a flight to Bonaire were told the flight had been cancelled and the flight was eventually cancelled.
A KLM spokesman told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that it was an “exceptional incident.”

“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is always our top priority,” a company spokesperson said.
“That’s why we cancelled the flight from Aruba to Bonaire,” the company spokesman added, “so that the aircraft could be thoroughly disinfected before returning to service.”
In a video posted on social media, people described the rat as “huge.”
It could be seen running quickly along the curtain rod in the living room.

Rats can pose a serious threat to public health by spreading diseases.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), threats include bacterial and viral diseases such as monkeypox, leptospirosis, and salmonellosis.
These rodents can also cause rat-borne encephalitis (RD), which can cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, vomiting, muscle aches, and possibly a rash.
“RBF can be spread to people through scratches, bites, or contact with rodent saliva or urine,” notes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
