Samsung is introducing three new affordable devices, with prices starting from just £299.
Samsung's latest Galaxy S25 series is one of the best models on the market, but it's not exactly budget. Prices start at £799 and can reach over £1,200 if you opt for the Ultra model. If that sounds like a lot of money for your budget, there's good news.
Samsung has just announced three budget phones that offer surprisingly high-quality features at significantly lower prices. The devices are called the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A26, and they include smart upgrades like the clever Circle to Search, which helps you find information online just by circling an image, as well as an Object Eraser feature that removes unwanted elements from your photos, and a new mode called “better face.” This feature, introduced on the Galaxy A56 , takes multiple photos of your friends and automatically replaces their faces so that no one blinks or looks unhappy in the final photo.
The new Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 have large 6.7-inch OLED screens, support fast charging, have 256GB of internal storage, and stereo speakers. They also have a triple camera, including a wide-angle lens, a night mode, and good video recording.
The telephoto lens doesn't have zoom, but Samsung claims to have improved the quality of the A56's 12-megapixel front camera by adding HDR functionality.
The devices feature Samsung's “key island” design, with matte side panels that taper slightly around the prominent volume and power buttons on the right side. The A36 is available in black, white, lime, or lavender, while the A56 comes in graphite, light gray, olive, or pink.
For everyday tasks, the A36 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, while the A56 is powered by Samsung's Exynos 1580 chipset for extra performance.
Perhaps the best part is that both the A36 and A56 will receive Android and security updates for six years, ensuring they'll stay current and protected with free software updates until 2031.
The Galaxy A56 and A36 will go on sale in the UK on March 19, with customers purchasing the devices from Samsung and participating retailers eligible for a £138.98 'Premium Pack' which includes a free Galaxy Fit 3 smartwatch, 45W charger and silicone case.
Samsung also announced the Galaxy A26 – another more affordable phone that will cost £299.
“The new Galaxy A series represents a major milestone in our mission to bring AI to everyone, bringing the incredible capabilities of Galaxy mobile AI to even more people around the world,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “With these exciting new features and capabilities, we are excited to bring limitless creative possibilities to the Galaxy A series, while delivering a safe, secure and engaging mobile experience.”
