The Dark Sky DS-FX is a great star projector that has the basic features and does its job well. When installed correctly, the image is bright and clear, and the device operates almost silently. In terms of its characteristics, the DS-FX is comparable to the Sega Homestars Matataki, but has the added benefit of being rechargeable.

The Dark Skys DS-FX Star Projector falls into the category of devices that actually project an image onto a surface, as opposed to “star projectors” which are fancy lights that create ambience in a room using different colors and patterns.
This projector can be used as a tool for learning astronomy, it displays a realistic night sky with many stars on the ceiling. Additional discs can be purchased separately, but the included disc is the Northern Hemisphere Chrome Star.
Compared to the original Homestar Original model, which was released almost two decades ago in 2006, this model, introduced in 2023, is relatively new in the starry sky projector market.
