A new AI model demonstrates the ability to predict and simulate human thoughts and actions with astonishing accuracy. The language model, called Centaurus, could help researchers improve our understanding of human cognition.
The model was trained on more than 10 million real-world decisions made by participants in psychology experiments. Using this dataset, Centaur was able to predict and model people’s thinking and behavior with 64% accuracy, the researchers reported July 2 in the journal Nature.
Previous AI models have been able to predict some aspects of human behavior, but not at this level. “Centaur is a significant advance in prediction,” Brenden Lake, a psychology and data scientist at New York University who was not involved in the study, told Live Science in an email.
