The man was outraged to learn that his “copyright holder,” a neighbor, had the audacity to cut down a healthy oak tree that was growing on his property.
He shared on Reddit how his neighbor, believing the tree was a threat to his own garden, cut it down even though it was on his property.

The man explained: “He didn’t like the trees being too close to his shed.” In response, he provided his neighbor with documents confirming that the tree was growing on his property, emphasizing that any removal should have been agreed upon and discussed in advance.
He added: “When I pointed out the stakes, which he had ignored, and showed him that he had encroached on my land by about 40ft, he started demanding that I pay him half the £1,500 he had spent on cutting it down.”
Fortunately, the neighbor's ill-considered decision resulted in only one tree being cut down, and the neighboring oak tree escaped the same fate.

Seeking advice, he said, “By the way, that stump is 89 feet in circumference. I'm just glad I looked in my backyard and was able to intervene before he decided to cut down the oak tree next door, too.”
“I filed a police report. My wife wrote down her version of the conflict. I contacted a tree lawyer. I am working on getting a survey done.
“I found an arborist association that offers consultations. I told the manager of the neighboring house that this man had also cut down several trees on their property.”
One user commented on his post: “This will cost him a lot of money.”
Another shared his experience: “My neighbor also can't stand trees. I live outside the city. I really hope he moves.”

A third expressed interest: “Wow! If, after you become the owner of his house, you want to rent it to someone who takes care of the trees, then I am at your service.”
One expressed genuine sympathy, adding: “Seriously, I would be furious. I'm sorry you're going through this. I support the person mentioned above in seeking information on the condition of the oak tree now that it has been revealed. Hopefully we'll hear news on this, because I'm totally interested. Good luck.”
Another user anticipated compensation: “Sorry about your tree, but congratulations on the expected compensation.”

And the final user shared his experience: “There is a special place in hell for people like that. One millennial pulled the same trick on me while I was on vacation and then explained that 'he just didn't know.'”
They continued with disappointment: “When he asked, I showed him his emails going back 18 months, but I was denied permission to cut them out.”
They concluded their story by saying, “He just waited until I was gone and then killed a beautiful tree anyway – a home for birds, squirrels and God knows how many other creatures. I am not a violent person, but I was sorely tempted that day.”
