The globe’s most aged living gentleman has disclosed the key to his extended life following observing another year added to his age. João Marinho Neto, a native of Brazil, reached the age of 113 on Sunday, October 5, with a grand celebration arranged by his family and companions.

Neto possesses the Guinness World Record for being the most ancient man alive, an accolade he obtained in November 2024 after the passing of the prior record holder, Briton John Tinniswood, who passed away at 112 years old. Guinness verified João Neto was “112 years and 52 days of age at the time” of Tinniswood’s passing.

Now, the earth’s most venerable man has arrived at the age of 113 and observed the landmark with “a lavish gathering his family set up for him”, as indicated by Guinness. He is documented as the 26th most aged man to have ever lived.

When questioned concerning the secret to a lengthy existence by the world record’s specialists, Neto credited it to having loved ones nearby and making sure he spent his days surrounded by supportive people.

Born in Maranguape, a municipality located in Ceará, Brazil, on October 5, 1912, the supercentenarian stands as the final remaining man born in that specific year.

He proceeded to father seven offspring, and now boasts 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

On an Instagram share, Guinness celebrated João Marinho Neto’s 113th birthday with a compilation of images.

The inscription stated: “Happy 113th birthday to João Marinho Neto, the world’s most elderly man.

“The Brazilian is honoring the significant milestone today with a large gathering his family organized for him.

“João has been relishing life since he was appointed the most senior man living in November of the past year, subsequent to the decease of John Tinniswood of the UK at 112 years of age.”

Despite Neto holding the title of the most ancient man globally, he isn’t the most aged person – that distinction goes to Ethel Caterham of the UK, who celebrated her 116th birthday in August.

In the photo, he can be observed wearing sunglasses and holding up a blue placard that says “Ethel Feliz Aniversário” – Portuguese translating to “happy birthday, Ethel” – next to several snapshots of Ethel.

As reported by LongeviQuest, defined as “the global leading source on ultimate human life expectancy,” Neto’s birthday greetings represented another remarkable event.

The entity stated: “This signifies the initial documented interaction between the earth’s most aged woman and the globe’s most venerable man, along with the first recorded birthday communication shared between supercentenarians in differing nations.”

LongeviQuest specialists informed Guinness that Neto is fond of conveying to others: “There aren’t any men more ancient than myself, just women!”
