A woman was left puzzled after it appeared her local delivery person had left his mailbag at her residence and disappeared without a trace.
“The postie just dumped his bag on our porch and we are unable to locate him,” she penned in a Reddit post, featuring a photograph of the bag filled with letters and packages. The peculiar occurrence triggered a surge of conjecture from numerous other users concerning the postman’s whereabouts and the reasoning behind abandoning the mail.

“Wait a while, and if he doesn’t reappear, then contact your local depot; mine had a health issue once and needed to change,” one person advised. “He suffers from Crohn’s disease and felt terribly embarrassed when he returned but now understands he can simply knock if he requires the restroom.”
Concurring, a second person relayed their personal account, stating: “Being a postie with IBS, I can attest that it certainly has its moments. The first route I ever trained on only had one public toilet, and it was situated at the very end of my route, so from leaving the delivery centre at 8.30am, there was nowhere for me to even relieve myself until 4pm.”
They continued: “The sole potential spot was hidden behind some trees on a residential street, but the far side of the fence was a primary school playground, so if it was playtime for the children, no chance for me. Not risking being placed on a register because of an unfortunately positioned hole in a piece of wood.”

And a third theorized: “The van has deposited it there partway through the ‘loop’, which is the walking portion, so the postie avoids having to lug two or more bags the entire route. Truthfully, they typically ask the householder before doing this, though.”

In another vein, others recommended that the woman should take charge and deliver the mail herself. “I would be inclined to deliver some items,” one Reddit user suggested.
“I once discovered an Evri parcel on the roadside (tracking indicated out for delivery) and proceeded to deliver it myself. I actually encountered the Evri driver searching through his vehicle for the parcel, and he thanked me profusely for returning it.”

Another joked: “This is the process by which postmen are selected. Upon retirement, they entrust their bag to the individual they believe would make the most suitable postman.” And a third individual remarked: “Stop browsing Reddit and get that mail delivered.”
However, there was no need for any real worry, as the original poster later returned to provide an illuminating update. “UPDATE: he has returned,” she disclosed. “He went home for a s***.
“Truly first class,” quipped one Reddit user in response. While another jested: “Urgent drop off.”
