When feng shui arrived in Russia, many dismissed it as just another fashionable fad that hit the country at the beginning of perestroika. However, over time, feng shui has retained its appeal. Experience has shown that those who follow the advice of feng shui masters can improve their lives. Oddly enough, even family relationships can be transformed by simply rearranging furniture and other items in an apartment. So what should an apartment's interior look like according to feng shui?
According to Feng Shui, a square or rectangle is considered an auspicious shape for a home. Well, our city dwellers have no problem with this. Almost all rooms in apartment buildings are shaped like a classic quadrangle. For those with a fifth corner in their apartment, Feng Shui experts recommend “straightening” it with decor or some other interior element. Even minor ceiling imperfections should be concealed. The most economical option is wallpaper, but a suspended or stretch ceiling is better.
Arrange upholstered furniture, armchairs, and a sofa in the living room so that their headboards touch the walls. Avoid placing them in front of protruding corners. Furthermore, the entrance to the room should be visible from any seating position.
Hang a round crystal chandelier from the ceiling. According to feng shui, crystal not only generates positive energy but also disperses it evenly throughout the room. If your room has multiple zones, such as a living area and a sitting area, each should have its own independent lighting.
Avoid African masks on the walls and terrifying paintings like “The Last Day of Pompeii.” Opt for beautiful landscapes instead.
According to Feng Shui, an apartment's interior should not be heavy. There should be no furniture in the center of the living room. A small round coffee table might be an exception. A low ceramic vase on it will not only enhance the apartment's interior but also help attract prosperity to the home.
Feng shui masters recommend designating a “lucky spot” in your apartment. This is where residents should feel most comfortable and cozy. Place houseplants and talismans there. Use your intuition to determine the exact location of this corner.
According to Feng Shui, the upper left corner of the wall facing the entrance is called the “wealth point.” Incidentally, in Rus', there's also a concept called the “red corner,” which is located exactly there. Try not to clutter it with furniture or paintings.
Feng shui experts offer the following sound advice: get rid of unnecessary and old things. They hinder the flow of positive energy into the home. However, while following this ancient Chinese teaching, don't forget our proverb: “Trust in God, but do not be idle.” If your apartment is arranged according to precise feng shui, yet arguments over trivial matters occur quite often, it's time to update not only the interior but also your family relationships.
Guided by the principles of Feng Shui, you can also create the interior of a bedroom or children's room.
