Are you skeptical of newfangled teachings? Do you doubt whether you should believe them? Or perhaps you've experienced many disappointments in life? We're used to living in a rational world, but faith in miracles still resides within each of us.
Maybe that's why feng shui is so popular right now? Will hanging a wind chime in your room or placing a pair of fish on your nightstand really make a difference?
And yet, feng shui is not as irrational as it seems. How much do we really know about the world? Modern science, with its constantly evolving branches, continually refutes previous knowledge and discovers new ones.
From a psychological perspective, we shape the space we inhabit. We buy furniture, consider where to place it, and organize our home according to our tastes and ideas about home comfort. And this little world reflects our inner state of mind, our character, and our worldview.
We consciously and subconsciously choose items for our home—those that reflect our inner world. But our surroundings, in turn, also shape our inner world. Experiments conducted by psychologists confirm the influence of surroundings on a person's state of mind. Psychology has already developed, for example, recommendations for choosing the color of relaxation rooms. It is known that green promotes relaxation, while red, conversely, energizes.
Where we live influences our mood, our psychological state, and, as a consequence of our psychological state, our thoughts. Thoughts give rise to actions. And actions, in turn, become the cause of certain events in life—career successes or failures, the making of new friends or enemies. This is how our destiny ultimately unfolds. On a deeper level, we can talk about a life script that develops in childhood. Simply put, how you see the world determines how you will relate to it.
Moreover, we subconsciously perceive the symbolism of the things that surround us. The objects we keep in our homes—the layout of rooms, furniture, doors, and windows—are also symbols perceived by our unconscious. For example, everyone is familiar with the scientific discovery of the 25th frame effect, whereby the unconscious perception of an image (particularly advertising) influences a person's behavior. The same applies to everything else in life.
From a physics and biology perspective, we live on a giant magnet—the Earth. The effects of magnets on humans have been extensively studied. Almost every physiotherapy department in a typical city clinic has a magnetic therapy machine. The entire universe is delicately balanced by magnetism.
Humans possess a magnetic field similar in structure to the Earth's magnetic field. Every cell in the body possesses magnetic properties, generated by chemical processes within them. It has been found that the human brain generates its strongest magnetic field during sleep. In light of this data, it becomes clear why feng shui places such emphasis on the compass placement of the front door, bedroom, and sleeping position!
The world is much more complex than a person can imagine. Isn't it?
