Dove: Interesting talents and habits you didn't know about

Almost no one pays attention to pigeons anymore. They are so used to living next to humans that we have stopped perceiving them as something amazing. And very in vain! The most ordinary pigeon has a lot of talents. But nature has also rewarded it with harmful habits. There must be a counterbalance to everything.

Stubborn

If the blue-eyed pigeon has decided that he will live here, then no amount of manna from heaven will help him prove the opposite. He will stubbornly push himself onto the balcony or roof if he suddenly decides that he is comfortable there. Don't worry, it won't last forever. While the pigeon is settling into the mansions he likes, he is already eyeing a new home. It is difficult to drive a pigeon off your roof.

Robber

It's not scary if a flock of pigeons flies into the field. They won't peck at the seeds and grains that are in the spikelet, but will try to collect everything that has already fallen to the ground. But if the same flock attacks the trail of gardening – write it off. The harvest will be significantly reduced. And not so much because the pigeons will eat it, but because of the deterioration of the presentation. The pigeon eats only the ripe part, and leaves the rest hanging on the tree.

Professional beggar

The blue bird has mastered begging perfectly. Like some organizations, it can systematically fly around the windows of a multi-story building, attracting the attention of people inside. At least in one window the pigeon will definitely be lucky: crumbs, leftovers from the dinner table, seeds – anything! And the next day the pigeon will begin its flight from this very window.

Noisy neighbor

Silence and a blue bird are two opposite concepts. They rumble, coo, coo. They share prey, flap their wings, land and run away. It is difficult to convey the entire set of sounds, but a flock of pigeons has one thing in common: they are all incredibly noisy neighbors.

Drip irrigation

Pigeons love water. Only at that moment, when they begin to love this water, it is worth moving away as far as possible. The bird dives, and then spreads its feathers and begins to fluff it. The volume and size of the reservoir are not of interest to the pigeon. It can be the ocean, or it can be a puddle in the yard. The pigeon will not worry about those who are nearby.

Local hooligans

Pigeons, like many other birds, establish a hierarchy within their flock. They may engage in fights over food or territory, demonstrating dominance. They may be aggressive toward smaller birds, such as sparrows, if they compete for food.

Pigeons are constantly asserting themselves. You could say that this is one of the rules of their pigeon life.

Both evil and good memory

The scientific world has become convinced that pigeons are not only able to remember the faces of specific people, but can also recall events associated with a particular physiognomy. Our hero has practically “eagle” vision, or to be more precise, lateral monocular.

Wash the car, please the pigeon

Many articles and legends have been written about pigeon droppings. Monuments, benches in public squares, roofs of houses, balconies, cars – and this is not the whole list of property that pigeons “spoil”. But the fact is that this very droppings contain an unrealistic amount of “small civilizations” (it contains bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms). Although the pigeon does not give a damn about it, but if a person or a plant comes into frequent contact with them, then diseases cannot be avoided.

External parasites

All pigeons suffer from pediculosis. Our hero prefers to live where lice, ticks, and fleas settle – basements, roofs, and ventilation systems. They try to remove them on their own, but this is not always successful.
