Four walls, scratched wallpaper, and a cozy sofa: do indoor cats really miss the outdoors?

If in Kipling's fairy tale the cats walk by themselves, then in real life only a small number of cats walk on their own, the rest of the pets spend most of their lives at home.

Isn't it harmful for animals to be constantly confined to four walls?

My home is my fortress

If you think that the cat lives with you, you are deeply mistaken. The cat will never admit such injustice. How is this possible? Of course, you are the one who lives with the cat.

And the cat can prove it by the scratches on the wallpaper in the hallway and the marks from the pads of the fingers and cheeks on the sofa, carpet, chair, table, bed. The list goes on and on. In general, everything here is cat-like!

And with such tags, the pet protects the home from the encroachments of other unruly cats, who can unceremoniously occupy its home and take its beloved owner.

Everything already has a cat scratch mark with special pheromones that the human nose cannot detect. Unless the cat decides to “sign” itself on the wall or floor with its urine.

Therefore, the cat feels great in what it thinks is its own home, especially if it has never been outside.

What about fresh air?

If your cat is used to walking outside since it was a kitten, then a walk will be beneficial for it. However, it is worth saying that it is dangerous to let a cat go for a walk on its own.

The best way out is to walk your pet on a leash. This method of walking is the safest and eliminates the risk of dog attacks, injuries, and poisoning with toxic substances.

If your cat is not used to walks at all, you should not start taking it outside. This will scare the animal and lead to nervousness.

A sudden change of environment is harmful to conservative cats. Loud noises, strange smells, and unexpected experiences will cause stress in the pet.

As for fresh air, an open window will be enough for a cat. It is important that the window has a screen.

Such cats see the world around them through a cat TV: a window.

Don't worry about domestic cats being deprived of their freedom. A stray cat would give anything for a day of such satisfying solitude.

Moreover, house cats live many times longer than those that roam the streets. They are spared from street infections and dangers that significantly shorten their lives.

And a cat will always find something to do at home. Fortunately, today there are all the conditions for this: from climbing frames to interactive toys.
