Who do you think is the most cunning and cautious in the house? Who do you need to catch all over the room to squeeze in your hands? Who constantly imitates everyone and wakes everyone up with a ringing trill in the morning? Who brings joy to the house with his bright appearance? Of course, it's the parrot!
Budgie
When it comes to “feathered pets”, the first thing that comes to mind is a budgie. Indeed, this small, charming, bright and easy-to-care-for bird instantly becomes a family favorite. The budgie is a very friendly and sociable pet. And literally: with a little effort, it can be taught a few words or phrases.
Most budgies are bullies. If you have other pets in the house, rest assured that the birds will definitely go on the attack, especially cats. Budgies also like to play pranks – they will deliberately drop something and pretend that it fell by itself. They also take terrible revenge if you disturb their sleep. For example, if you get ready for work loudly in the morning, the budgie will definitely wake up the whole family at dawn on the weekend. You can watch cartoons and listen to music with these birds. In other words, you won’t be bored with such a pet for at least ten years, because that’s how long they live on average.
Rosella
Rosella parrots are distinguished by their wonderful bright, colorful plumage and good-natured character. They easily and quickly find a common language with a person, literally becoming a member of the family. It is almost impossible to teach a rosella words, but it has a pleasant voice, remembers and reproduces melodies perfectly. So, alas, it will not become a conversationalist, but it will always be able to “play” your favorite song for you.
Rosella is a possessive, selfish and very proud bird. Scratching, stroking and cooing are not for her. Rosella decides for herself when to fly to her owner and what to take from his hands. Sometimes the bird can come to the owner and stretch out her neck, as if saying: “Stroke me”, get her portion of affection and fly away. Such a picky bird. Rosella also loves to swim in clean water, loves to fly and therefore often escapes from the cage.
Cockatiel
If you see a bird with a crest on its head and bright “blush” on its cheeks in a pet store, you can be sure that you have a cockatiel in front of you. This bird will become a wonderful friend: it is happy to see its owner and always greets him with a trilling chirp literally from the threshold. Although it is not easy to teach a cockatiel to talk, it can easily make sounds that it often hears in the house, for example, a telephone or doorbell.
Surprisingly, this type of parrot is very calm and silent, and practically never bites: with proper care, it only starts screaming when there is a reason, for example, when there is no food or it is left alone for a long time. The cockatiel is famous for its intelligence and curiosity. What other bird would think of hiding in a closed cabinet, stealing food from a plate, or rummaging through a cosmetic bag? And the cockatiel is terribly stubborn: if it wants love and affection, it will persistently crawl under your hand so that you stroke its neck or crest. If the bird is not in the mood, no treats will be able to lure it out of the cage.
Lori
Lories are small parrots with unusually bright colors: their plumage contains almost all the colors of the rainbow. These birds are very friendly and easy to tame. Lories live in motion, so if they don’t want to, you will never catch them! And these parrots are the most talkative birds. To teach them words, it is enough to repeat the same phrase for several days.
This bird spends most of the day playing with people. Its beak is very soft, so the bites are not too painful. And the lory will see you not only as an owner, but also as a perch: first, it will examine you from head to toe, then choose the most comfortable place for itself (usually hair) and sit down there to “nest”. Despite all its sociability and beauty, these parrots have several drawbacks: a sharp cry and sloppiness. Although the latter is surprising, because the lory loves water procedures and happily exposes its feathers to spray.
