Aldi shopper ‘hits jackpot’ after opening Snackrite crisp packet

An Aldi customer has been left delighted after opening up their packet of crisps – and, after making a surprising discovery, claims they’ve ‘hit the jackpot’.

We’ve all been left feeling shortchanged by the contents of our crisp packets – whether we open them up to find them half-full, or spot the packets themselves are “smaller than they used to be”.

But one Aldi customer was left rejoicing after having quite the opposite experience recently, claiming he’d hit the “jackpot” as he prepared to tuck into his snack. Proudly sharing a snap of the supermarket’s Snackrite branded cheese and onion flavour, he penned on Reddit: “Hit the crisp packet jackpot!”

He continued: “The bag of crisps is filled to the brim! We are saving it for a special occasion.” Showing off the find, the man positioned the 25g packet on kitchen scales to reveal it weighed an impressive 91g – more than three times the weight of its intended contents.

“Get an empty packet and sell the excess on,” another Reddit user joked in response. “This is the kind of content that I log on to Reddit for,” hailed another.

A third agreed: “This is how things should be.” Meanwhile a fourth recalled a similar tale with Aldi’s cheese, adding: “I find their cheese overweight quite often. I’ve had around 500g in a 300g packet.”

Elsewhere, another Redditor joked the extra weight could be down to something rather unsavoury. “I don’t want to be the one to puncture the atmosphere, but a house mouse weighs 12-30g,” they quipped. “So it could be 25g crisps in there and anything up to five mice.”

It prompted someone else to make the calculation: “3 x 12 = 36g of mice. 25g crisps + 36g mice = 61g. “That’s a 30g shortfall, so a lot of seasoning. Yes, on balance I’d still call that a jackpot.”

The original poster did not comment on the mouse jokes, so we can only assume there wasn’t a hidden rodent somewhere in the packet.
