ALIEN hunters claim to have found a human-like face on Mars, pointing out oddly-shaped rocks in NASA’s official photos of the Red Planet.
A supposed alien face was snapped by the Mars Curiosity rover, which has been exploring the planet since August 2012. On top of collecting and analysing rock samples in the hunt for alien life, NASA’s rover takes thousands of photos it beams back to Earth. UFO hunters and conspiracy theorists then trawl through these photos, picking out rocks and shadows they believe could be evidence of extraterrestrial activity.

Chief among them is self-appointed expert Scott C Waring who believes there is a US government-backed coverup over alien life on Mars.
Mr Waring discussed his latest discovery on his blog UFO Sightings Daily.
He said: “Honestly guys, I’m getting sensory overload on this whole photo.
“Just too many ancient artefacts, and only one in 20 I will show you.

“Mostly because the other 19 are less detailed, less understandable, less significant.”
The NASA photos shared by Mr Waring show a rocky mound that was snapped on the 1,087th day of Curiosity’s mission.
Although at first glance there is nothing unusual about the photo, Mr Waring is convinced it shows alien artefacts hidden in plain sight.
The UFO hunter highlighted one rock in particular, claiming it shows features resembling a human-like girl.
He said: “I found a face of a young girl, looks to be a chubby young girl with curly hair.
“The face is highly detailed and facing outward from the hillside.
“It looks human-like, if the human were seven-years-old.”
Mr Waring then pointed out “a few standing figures”, which he claimed are proof of an alien city on Mars.
He even suggested the figures are no taller than three to five inches.

He said: “Right now you doubt me, but honestly, why do you think intelligence is limited by size?
“Some of the smartest people I ever met… were some of the shortest too.”
But there is no other evidence to back Mr Waring’s claims and NASA is certain life as we know it does not exist on Mars in its current state.
Scientists speculate alien microbes may have developed billions of years ago when the planet had running water on its surface.
What scientists do know, however, is that Mr Waring’s so-called discoveries can be explained through an effect called pareidolia.
Pareidolia describes the brain’s tendency to see recognisable shapes and patterns in everyday objects.
For example, pareidolia can cause someone to see a face in an oddly-shaped rock or shadow.
NASA said: “Pareidolia is the psychological phenomenon where people see recognizable shapes in clouds, rock formations, or otherwise unrelated objects or data.
“There are many examples of this phenomenon on Earth and in space.”
