Snack lovers have been left divided after Co-op launched a brand new range of crisps as part of its Irresistible range, with some spotting an issue.
A crisp connoisseur has been left with his tastebuds in a spin after trying the latest addition to Co-op’s hand-cooked Irresistible line of crisps.
Joining the likes of the Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar and West Country Cheddar & Red Onion Chutney is a new kid on the block – Aberdeen Angus Steak & Peppercorn Sauce Crinkle Cut Crisps. Taking to Reddit, the snack fan shared their take, writing: “The strangest crisps I’ve ever tried.
“I love Co-op’s crisps, and thought these sounded incredible, but they’re so… odd tasting? I can’t put my finger on what they are or why they’re odd, but I’m very underwhelmed. Not bad, just unpleasant and underwhelming.”
The new flavour is on sale at £1.75 for a 150g packet. Responding, another crisp-loving Redditor warned: “Co-op sometimes put weird stuff in theirs crisps (like flavours they shouldnt be there and create an unpleasant after taste).
“Check the ingredients. Their salt and vinegar has lime which is overpowering at the end sometimes.” Indeed, the Aberdeen Angus Steak & Peppercorn Sauce does offer a few unsuspecting additions – most notably bay leaf and brandy powder.

“I found them odd tasting too,” revealed a third, before adding: “The shawarma ones are absolutely amazing though.” Meanwhile, a fourth person agreed: ” Co-op crisps are a major hit and miss to me. Some are absolutely trash and have no real substance. It was such a murky flavour. I didn’t like these.”
But others spoke out in support of the new flavour, with one person describing it as “absolutely banging”. They penned: “Tastes of steak? Check. Has actual steak in it? Check. Yeah, that’s right, they contain actual meat and are not vegetarian.
“Tastes of peppercorn sauce? Check. I think these are absolutely banging. Best crisps ever? Maybe.” A second person wrote in excitement: “100% gonna give these a try once im back in the UK.” Whilst a third user declared: “They taste great. Ignore the haters.”
