CORONAVIRUS infections are rapidly spreading across the globe amid growing concerns and bizarre theories the COVID-19 epidemic was foretold by the Bible’s Book of Revelation.
The coronavirus has infected more than 114,000 people worldwide and killed at least 4,027 since December. Entire countries have gone on lockdown to halt the spread and scientists are scrambling to find a cure.
Militant Christians have also made their voices heard by flooding social media with bizarre claims and conspiracy theories of the Apocalypse and the end times.
Many seem to believe the coronavirus was foretold by the Bible as a warning sign and precursor to the Second Coming of Christ.
Twitter user Anna-Marie said: “Coronavirus. THE Bible mention this would happen in THE last days with much sickness and virus some believe its THE END signs.”
Lorenzo Flavian said: “The coronavirus has just become biblical. It’s beginning to resemble bible verses from the book of revelation. I’m not a religious guy but I study everything.”

Joshua Ranglong also tweeted: “Preparations for #coronavirus:
“1. Known that time is desperately short
“2. See the cost of sin is everlasting death

But where are all of these outlandish biblical connections coming from?
According to the last chapters of the Bible, the Book of Revelation, the world will be ravaged by many disasters in the end days.
This is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
The disasters will involve swarms of locusts, falling stars, earthquakes and the arrival of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Many Christian evangelists believe one of the Horsemen will manifest in the form of plague or pestilence that will afflict a quarter of the world’s population.
Stephen Flurry, host of The Trumpet radio show, argued warnings signs of a major disease are found in Ezekiel 38:22.

The scripture reads: “And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.”
Mr Flurry said: “God is pleading, He’s pleading. We know there’s all kinds of famine and pestilence epidemic that are going to sweep across this world during the Great Tribulation.
“But what about the lead up to it? Jesus talked of this in Matthew 24, Revelation 6, talks about the Seven Seals.
“The first four of those Seals are called the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They represent religious deception, war, famine and disease.
“This is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.”

And yet despite the ominous prophecies of doom, the coronavirus has proven to be everything but biblical in scope.
Although the responsible SARS-CoV-2 pathogen rapidly spreads between humans, most of the symptoms it triggers are mild.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said: “Illness due to COVID-19 infection is generally mild, especially for children and young adults.
“However, it can cause serious illness: about one in every five people who catch it need hospital care.
“It is therefore quite normal for people to worry about how the COVID-19 outbreak will affect them and their loved ones.”
