Man chomps raw beef mince on train – before another grim act

A Reddit user has shared a snap taken on a London train appearing to show a fellow passenger eating a packet raw beef mince from Waitrose

A London transport user has bizarrely claimed she witnessed a fellow passenger chomping on a packet of raw beef mince on a recent train journey.

In a snap shared to Reddit, a man is seen holding the meat in one hand and using his mobile phone in the other as he rests a bare foot on his seat.

With Waitrose and Argos shopping bags perched to hs right, another man is sat to his left. And in another grim twist, a Reddit user claims the chap next to him was encouraged to indulge in the uncooked mince too.

“This man is eating raw mince beef on the overground and trying to get the guy next to him to take a bite,” the woman penned in the Weird subreddit.

She added: “The dude was getting into a conversation with the suit guy, asking him to take bites and talking about eating raw meat and s***, and the suit guy was just entertaining all of it. He didn’t take a bite, the meat dude asked like four times though.”

Reacting in disgust, one person penned: “I want to know the lore these types of people have. What was his upbringing like to do stuff and act like this in a public place. Eat all the raw beef you want in the privacy of your own home but on the train?”

Another hit out: “Eating raw meat is one thing, but minced is literally the worst sort of meat you could eat raw. The entire thing has been exposed to potential foodborne microorganisms, inside and out and all mixed in with it.”

A third fumed: “What an appalling way to behave for a grown man. And look at the way he’s sat. The diva bs in London gets so tiresome.”

Whilst a fourth cursed: “Some people never really evolved past cave man. Actually you know what a caveman would probably be better than this.”

Others, meanwhile, suggested the unusual diet is more commonplace in other parts of the world. “You can purchase Raw Beef and Onions served on rye bread at Joey Gerrard’s for $14.95 in Greenfield, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee,” an American Redditor explained. “It’s really very good and the only time I eat raw onions, and raw beef for that matter.”

A second user added: “I know lots of people of French Canadian origin eat Steak Tartare… which is basically spiced raw minced beef with a raw egg on it.” A third joked: “In Germany this title would just be a normal thing lol.”

While a fourth detailed: “In Chile it’s become very popular in the last 10 years, in my opinion mostly with middle to upper middle class who want to appear cultured. They say it’s cooked in the lemon like cerviche, I think they are morons eating raw meat from another mammal.”

According to the NHS, eating raw meat can result in toxoplasmosis – an infection that can cause confusion, blurred vision, slurred speech, unsteady walking and a variety of less serious symptoms. We definitely wouldn’t recommend it!
