A WOMAN who temporarily died believed she was being “abducted by aliens” as she saw her deceased father surrounded by glowing light.
While there is no proof of the afterlife, many who have had a near death experience (NDE) believe they know the truth. One woman called Christine believes she has such proof, after an NDE following a car accident. Christine had serious injuries following the crash, she revealed, writing on the Near Death Experience Research Foundation.
She said: “Five vertebrae in my back and one in my neck were fractured, broke the femur on my right leg, broke the tibia/fibula and smashed the ankle on my left leg, both of my scapulas were broken, nine ribs were broken but, the most life threatening was my right shoulder.”
However, perhaps the most significant part of her NDE was when she believes she saw the afterlife.
While there, Christine said she saw her father, who had already been dead for some time, surrounded by a glowing light.
Christine was taken in a helicopter to the hospital, but her genuine belief was that she was being abducted by aliens.
She continued: “I don’t remember the accident, but I do remember seeing my dad.
“He passed away June 2002, but that morning I saw him very clearly.
“He was standing above me, looking down, and he said ‘Not now little one, we need you here.’
“There was a bright light all around him and behind him. He was glowing. I felt very safe and very loved.
“The next thing I remember is thinking that I was being abducted by aliens, but it was the helicopter ride that I was taking to the hospital.
“After this I remember waking up in the hospital and telling my brothers, ‘I saw dad’.”
Some researchers, however, have said these visions are a normal phenomenon and not necessarily a sign of an afterlife.
Dr Sam Parnia, director of critical care and resuscitation research at NYU Langone School of Medicine in New York City, told an Oz Talk: “People describe a sensation of a bright, warm, welcoming light that draws people towards it.

“They describe a sensation of experiencing their deceased relatives, almost as if they have come to welcome them.
“They often say that they didn’t want to come back in many cases, it is so comfortable and it is like a magnet that draws them that they don’t want to come back.
“A lot of people describe a sensation of separating from themselves and watching doctors and nurses working on them.”
Dr Parnia said there are scientific explanations for the reaction, and says seeing people is not evidence of the afterlife, but more likely the brain just scanning itself as a survival technique.
