They can come in many different forms, but the three most common are observational, analytical, and mathematical.

Mathematical brainteasers give users a tricky puzzle to solve and really put their minds to the test. Analytical brainteasers are cryptically worded riddles and require someone to exercise different parts of their mind.

Observational brainteasers, such as the one above by Live Football Tickets, present an image or graphic inside of which is a hidden object or objects. In this case, we are presented with the impression of a London street and asked to find the five footballs as quickly as possible.

Did you solve the brainteaser? No worries if not the answers are circled above. The footballs can be seen in between buildings, on signs, in bushes, behind flags and plant pots and at the feet of passersby.

One of the best things about brainteasers is their variety and the fact that each one can look completely different to the last. Furthermore, they could also improve our health as they help with neurological stimulation.

Whilst this doesn’t mean brainteasers could stop someone from developing dementia, other risk factors can have a much bigger impact, they could help keep someone’s mind sharper for longer.

Furthermore, brainteasers can be done anywhere whether it’s in a doctor’s waiting room or aboard a train en route to the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany where thousands of English football fans are expected to flock this week.

Ahead of their arrival, the fans have been warned about chanting offensive World War 2 songs. Although fans who chant the banned song Ten German Bombers won’t be arrested, the chief of police in Gelsenkirchen Peter Both has said officers will intervene if fans do the Nazi salute or chant homophobic or racist songs.

On the potential actions of his officers against fans chanting World War 2-themed songs, Mr Both said: “It’s not illegal to sing that in Germany. But let me say it clearly: it’s stupid.

“There is a long-lasting sporting rivalry between England and Germany, but, it’s only a sporting one. Our countries have been and remain allies for over seven decades. It’s absolutely stupid to sing this song, but I expect some of them will sing it.

“What we don’t accept in Germany is any kind of hostility to strangers, homophobic chants, discriminatory behaviour and showing the Hitler salute. This is absolutely unbearable and intolerable [and] criminal in Germany too. [If that happens] we will take proactive action and will intervene consequently.”
