‘Rarest’ Pokemon cards up for sale – and they’re ‘priceless’

Pokemon cards have been around for nearly 30 years and there’s so many different kinds to collect. But did you know you could own the ‘rarest’ out there?

Pokemon cards were certainly a thing of the 90s.

First launched in 1996, the Japanese gaming franchise has since sold a whopping 34.1billion individual cards worldwide.

There might be a great deal of Pokemon cards already out there, but some are worth much more than others.

According to analysis by money.co.uk, the most valuable on the market is on sale for a staggering $2.4million (around £1.2million).

Now over on TikTok, one user holds “some of the rarest” Pokemon sheets of all time and people are losing their minds over it.

Posted by @Ryan’s_Cardhouse, who boasts 15,600 followers, he said in the caption: “It’s so cool to see the thought process and the trial and error that went into creating the first ever print of Pokemon.”

In the video, he continued: “This is not something you see every day. Right now up for sale is some of the rarest Pokemon sheets of all time.

“This is a disco holo base set shadowless uncut test sheet. This sheet made when Pokemon was still choosing holo pattern in style for he original print run of base set Pokemon card.

“Obviously this is not the pattern they ended up choosing which makes this sheet so rare to see today.”

He concluded: “If you are interested in purchasing the sheet, send me a message and can provide further details.”

Since the video was shared, it garnered 19,000 likes and hundreds of comments from eager followers who were keen to find out the cost of something like this.

    One said: “Probably £350,000 if not more.” While another chimed in: “He’s asking £2.3million, I sussed it out.”

    A third commented: “That’s probably priceless.” And a fourth posted: “This is crazy, a set like this wow.”

    Meanwhile a fifth pointed out: “That’s priceless, no way someone can afford anything like that.” Then someone else said: “Need.”

    Some of the most valuable Pokemon cards include:

    1. Pikachu – £1.2million

    2. Kangaskhan – £350,000

    3. Blastoise and Venusaur – both worth £185,868

    4. Rayquaza – £73,062

    5. Ivysaur – £54,797

    To find out if you have a valuable Pokemon card, you can look for the detail in the bottom of each card.

    A circle means common, a diamond means uncommon, a star means rare and a white or gold star means ultra-rare.

    Additionally, holographic and first edition cards are typically worth extra.

    There are also limited-edition cards that collectors can only get by going to special events or through competitions.
