A Tesco shopper took advantage of her local branch’s ‘yellow sticker’ reductions, timing her trip to perfection to make a huge saving.
A Tesco customer has celebrated her “massive win” after emabrking on a “yellow sticker” shopping spree.
After scanning her items at the till, the Tesco customer was left flabbergasted by the savings she had made – so much so that she was quick to share photographic proof of her transaction. “Massive win at Tesco,” she penned in the CasualUK subreddit.
She then detailed exactly how she achived her supermarket success, adding: “Yellow stickers and a massively reduced vegan/veggie freezer section.” Indeed, the snap taken at the self-checkouts revealed her entire shop cost just £4.44 – a saving of £32.77.”Wow, how did you manage to get such a big discount, was it all reduced?” asked another Reddit user seeking further clarification. “Yep, most of it was not even yellow sticker, it was the freezer section and they had reduced to clear on the normal black and white price labels,” the original poster explained.”That’s acutally insane, such a good deal,” hailed a second Redditor. Whilst a third posted jealously: “When I go to Tesco the reductions are laughable. Half the box of strawberries is covered with fluffy mould. Price reduced from £2.50 to £2.30.”

“Yellow sticker stuff is insane,” expressed a fourth person. “I have only ever caught them a couple of times, but I know some people make it like a job but to get the ‘timing’ right. I once got a quiche that was 3.30p for just 33p though. That was a result!”
Others then detailed their own recent Tesco success stories, as one happy shopper revealed: “Saw a pair of jeans there the other day. £22.50 reduced to £12. Winner. Scanned them, £10! I was made up. Scanned my clubcard and got 25% off so down to £7.50! I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat until I noticed I had a £1.50 voucher to use. £6 jeans!”
And another person excitedly revealed: “Happened to me with reduced section! There was vegan pasta or something that normally is £4. Was discounted to about £1.30 ish. When I scanned it it came up as 70p or 80p!”

It comes after Tesco’s boss revealed this week how he hopes to use AI in future to “nudge” customers into healthier eating habits. Ken Murphy said the chain has big plans to use Artificial Intelligence to customise shoppers’ experiences, flag up deals, and try to get them to make healthier choices.
Speaking at the FT’s Future of Retail summit, Mr Murphy talked up the supermarket’s plans, as he admitted it could have privacy implications. “I can see it nudging you, saying, ‘Look, I’ve noticed over time that in your shopping basket your sodium salt content is 250% of your daily recommended allowance, I would recommend you substitute this, this and this for lower sodium products to improve your heart health’.”
He added: “It can start nudging you to say if you wait another week to buy this, this is coming on deal. It can help to bring your shopping bill down, reduce waste and improve the outcome and the power of that Clubcard. It will completely revolutionise how customers interact with retailers.”
