Woman transforms ‘vintage’ home but not everyone’s impressed

A woman has taken to social media to share her home makeover – but not everyone is impressed with how she transformed the ‘vintage’ space

After purchasing a new home, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of making it your own with a spot of redecorating.

This is precisely what one woman embarked on after moving into her flat in Rome, Italy. However, instead of receiving accolades for her renovation shared online, she was flooded with comments expressing concern.

In a TikTok video, Victoria, known as @viccaterina on the platform, showcased before and after footage of her apartment, captioning it: “The apartment we bought ‘vs’ the apartment we created.”

Initially, she gives viewers a tour of her cluttered abode filled with vintage furniture and ornaments scattered everywhere.

Amidst the disorder, there’s a three-piece suite seemingly in near-pristine condition, intricate side tables, a patterned rug, and striking artwork adorning walls throughout the property, among other items.

In the reveal, the wallpaper has been torn down and replaced with vibrant paint, while the furniture has been swapped out for more contemporary pieces.

Instead of keeping the original paintings, Victoria opted to replace them with prints that better align with her artistic preferences. One viewer commented on the video: “Congratulations on your IKEA apartment.”

Another added: “Okay but some of those vintage furniture and decor pieces were really pretty.”

A third commenter voiced their dismay: “You destroyed it. It was awesome. I’m screaming. Why? ” Another chimed in with equal displeasure: “That is literally the apartment from The Dreamers why did you change it.”

Yet, some followers celebrated her makeover, complimenting her handiwork enthusiastically.

While one supporter countered the criticism saying: “People complaining haven’t seen the unique and vintage to sad and beige transformations yet. I really like what you did with the flat incorporating a lot of the old furniture and art. Well done!”

Meanwhile, another fan cheered: “No, you ate this. Ignore everyone. This is adorable.”
