Amazon has quietly pulled one of its streaming devices and unveiled its replacement.
The Fire TV lineup got a major refresh late last year when Amazon announced the advanced Fire TV Stick 4K and the feature-rich Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Both are flagship devices and offer 4K streaming with the Max, including a unique Ambient Experience feature that transforms your TV's big black screen into an ever-changing work of art.
But what if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a streaming device? Luckily, there's good news, as – without fanfare – Amazon has just updated its much more affordable models.
The company currently still offers the Fire TV Stick Lite (though some speculate it may be discontinued soon) and has now added the Fire TV Stick HD. It looks like it will be a replacement for the 2021 model known simply as the Fire TV Stick.

The latest HD version comes with an improved remote control with a fresh new design, as well as all the features you'd expect, such as quick access to all the most popular premium and free streaming apps, including Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, Freevee, BBC iPlayer and more.
As the name suggests, it is fully compatible with HD content and runs on Amazon's popular FireOS software, which offers viewing recommendations.
There is also Alexa voice search, which allows you to control the device using simple voice commands.
Amazon simply stated in more detail about its release: “Fire TV Stick HD. Fast, Full HD streaming with easy TV control.”

It's a nice little update, and the other good news is that it's priced at £39.99, which is £5 cheaper than the previous Fire TV Stick, which included many of the same features.
It's unclear why Amazon hasn't had a bigger sale on this new device, but it's available for purchase now.
The new Fire TV Stick HD joins the existing Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube.
