The spaceflight enterprise Blue Origin propelled six individuals from Texas on its 15th endeavor within the burgeoning realm of space travel.
Blue Origin’s NS-36 mission, a cosmic journey, witnessed its launch at 8:40 a.m. CDT from its west Texas location, subsequent to a 9:30 a.m. launch availability for its suborbital excursion in the 36th overall flight for its reusable New Shepard rocket-capsule.
“Group embrace,” expressed an announcer via a live-streamed communication, coinciding with New Shepard’s return to earth within the Texas terrain.
The six-member personnel ascended to a height of 346,791 feet within the capsule, subsequent to its rocket’s separation after reaching its high point of approximately 346,426 feet.
Those on board encountered a state of weightlessness for a brief duration above the Earth’s Karman line, roughly 62 miles above the surface — an altitude recognized by experts as the gateway to the cosmos.
The total flight duration aligned with Blue Origin’s anticipations. The entire mission clocked in at 10 minutes and 21 seconds, with the reusable capsule touching down around 8:50 a.m. CDT.
New Shepard has executed 21 autonomous research excursions, and has carried a sum of 15 people thus far.
Among the participants on the journey by the company founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos were Blue Origin veteran Clint Kelly III, a robotics expert, who had been a part of Blue Origin’s August 2022 outing. In addition to an unnamed passenger, teaming up with Kelly were franchise executive Jeff Elgin, media entrepreneur Danna Karagussova, software entrepreneur Aaron Newman, and Ukrainian businessman Vitalii Ostrovsky.
However, live conversations were restricted, although video clips will be shared in the future, as per representatives of the company.
Yet, it is unclear the exact cost to secure a position on New Shepard; approximations point to a down payment of $150,000 with its first seat sold at around $30 million.
In June, Blue Origin carried six paying space travelers on its 13th voyage with people onboard.
Prior voyages featured Star Trek icon William Shatner, Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, and pop sensation Katy Perry.
