A good pair of astronomy binoculars should have two key qualities: high magnification for seeing distant objects, and large lenses that let in enough light for viewing in the dark. The Celestron SkyMaster 15×70 ticks both boxes.

Despite some shortcomings that explain their affordable price, they are a great entry point into astronomy for beginners who don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on more expensive binoculars for observing. If you want to get a closer look at the Moon, star clusters, and point galaxies and nebulae, we’re sure you’ll be pleased. While binoculars are much more portable than the best telescopes, you’ll still need a tripod for those heavy 15x70s.
