Samsung rolls out 'critical' Galaxy update – check your phone settings now

Samsung Galaxy users should immediately check their settings and install the latest update.

Anyone with a newly released Galaxy phone in their pocket is advised to check their settings and download the latest software update from the Korean tech giant without delay. Samsung has just confirmed that it has released a critical free update that addresses a number of serious bugs, including some that have been classified as “critical.”

The patch, which began rolling out today, includes 58 changes, including 51 Android updates from Google and seven from Samsung. Eleven fixes have been rated “critical” and another 40 have been rated “high priority.”

“Samsung Mobile is releasing an updated version for key flagship models as part of its monthly Security Markup Remediation (SMR) process,” Samsung said on its update page.

“This SMR package includes fixes from Google and Samsung.”

Some fixes from Samsung have been confirmed to affect Galaxy Bluetooth devices, Samsung Galaxy Watch features, MAC address, and incorrect access control.

If you have a Galaxy device in your pocket, it is a good idea to check if it is updated or if you need to download new software.

“At Samsung, we attach great importance to security and privacy issues and strive to respond as quickly as possible,” the company added.

“Protecting your device and maintaining your trust in us is our top priority.”
