A French woman's home-cooked dinner has left her American boyfriend angry when he ordered a burger instead, according to a viral post.
The woman said she moved from France to the US two years ago and has been experiencing digestive issues ever since, which she mentioned in her Reddit post.
“For some reason, the local food makes me feel sick,” she wrote. “My body seems to have a hard time digesting it.”
“It doesn't matter if we order takeout or dine out at a fancy restaurant… I can't go to the bathroom for days or I vomit a lot,” the woman added.
The expat sought medical attention and after numerous tests, doctors explained that her body was probably “not used to the high levels of salt and preservatives” in American food.

She says her health has improved dramatically since she started adding more whole foods to her diet.
She said that she started cooking and preparing meals herself.
“My dad is actually a chef and he was willing to send me some recipes to add variety to my diet,” she said.
However, one of her recipes – a “delicious” vegetarian lasagne made from scratch – has caused discontent among her American partner.
The woman wrote that when he asked what was for dinner, the guy “rolled his eyes” when he heard it was lasagna.

“[He] was tired of 'this organic food' and wanted a cheeseburger,” she shared. “That comment really got to me.”
She also reported that he told her “it was unfair to 'force' him to eat my food.”
The woman clarified that she has nothing against Americans and noted that she likes living here, and those who left comments mostly supported her.

“You don't have to feed a grown man who doesn't want to put in the effort,” read one of the most popular comments.
While most commenters supported her, some questioned the veracity of the post.
“What have you been eating since you came to the US?” one user asked.
“In modern America, a woman is not obligated to cook for her boyfriend or husband every night.”
Carol Lieberman, MD, a psychiatrist in Beverly Hills, California, told Fox News Digital that the Reddit post's author appears to have “great taste in food but poor taste in partners.”
She added: “In modern America, a woman is not obliged to cook her boyfriend or husband a meal every night – and certainly not one she doesn't want to eat. Many couples share cooking duties and enjoy it.”
