A frustrated man has taken to Reddit after his pregnant sister continued to eat his food without permission, sparking a wave of support.
In a post on the popular platform, the 30-year-old man revealed that his 31-year-old sister had recently split from her husband and moved in with him.
“My apartment is small, but I let her move in because she had nowhere else to go and she was six months pregnant,” he wrote. “I wasn't too happy about it, but she is my sister.”
At first everything was going well until he noticed that his food was disappearing.
The man noted that he has special foods to help him achieve his fitness goals, and his sister eats them, including his expensive protein shakes, post-workout snacks, and ready-made meals.

“I'm pretty disciplined about what I eat because I'm in the process of bulking up and I hit the gym regularly,” he wrote.
“I portion out my food, label it, and plan for the week. But after a day, something disappears. It drives me crazy.”
When his sister was asked about her eating habits, she simply shrugged and blamed it on hormones.
“I asked her to replace the food she ate or at least ask before she took something. … She refuses to change anything,” he said.

When a man decided to buy a small mini-fridge and install it in his bedroom, his sister accused him of “treating her like a thief.”
“I calmly told her that I was tired of my food disappearing and that this was the easiest way to avoid conflict,” he said.
“Now she is sulking and has told our parents that after his failed marriage, her brother has also become distant from her.”
“Relationships between siblings are often the most difficult we will ever have to deal with.”
The man who shared his story on Reddit also said that his mother called him and told him that “pregnancy is not easy,” especially given his sister's situation.
“I don't think I'm being cruel… I just want my food to be left alone. Part of me understands that she's going through a hard time. But at my expense?” he concluded.

Commentators almost unanimously supported the man.
“Where is she going to live after the baby is born? You have bigger problems than just groceries if she doesn't even want to contribute to the food bill,” one user noted.
“Tell your mother to come get your sister so she can be sure your sister is taken care of,” added another.
“Boundaries must be set without any apologies.”
California-based relationship expert Audrey Hope told Fox News Digital that the root cause of disagreements goes far beyond food.
