An Irishman was reportedly attacked by a rooster known for its aggressive attacks on people in April 2022.
The Irish Examiner in Cork, Ireland, reported that Jasper Kraus was believed to have been the victim of a Brahma chicken that was moved to his property in Ballinasloe after it attacked a child.
During the trial of the case, Officer Ain Brown testified that he responded to reports of a sudden death on April 28, 2022, and upon arrival spoke to paramedics who said attempts to revive the victim with CPR were unsuccessful.
When Brown arrived, Kraus was in the kitchen, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He had only one wound to the back of his leg.

Kraus' daughter testified during the investigation that she realized the rooster had likely caused her father's death after seeing blood on his claws. She also mentioned that the same rooster had previously attacked her daughter.
Cory O'Keefe, a tenant of Kraus' home, was questioned about the incident and said he returned home from work at 8 a.m., fed the animals, and asked Kraus how he was doing before going to bed. A short time later, O'Keefe said, Kraus screamed for help.
When O'Keefe went out to investigate, he saw blood pouring from a large wound on the back of Kraus's leg, as well as two other scratches.
According to O'Keefe, the victim drifted in and out of consciousness, and at one point uttered the word “rooster.” Kraus was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner ruled Kraus' death an accident, calling the incident a horrific experience for the family.
