A bear was spotted enjoying a sweet treat at an ice cream parlor in the California resort area of Lake Tahoe last week, officials said.
Early in the morning of Aug. 17, law enforcement officers arrived at an ice cream parlor in Camp Richardson, South Tahoe, and reported the presence of a large predator, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department Facebook page reported Tuesday.
“Officers were shocked to discover the massive bear in the visitor service area,” the official statement said.
The photos show the animal, dubbed Fuzzy by the sheriff's office, positioned behind the counter like a cafe employee waiting to interact with arriving law enforcement.

Before the patrol arrived and drove the bear out, he had time to test the assortment of desserts, but, as the authorities clarified, he clearly preferred a certain type of treat.

“After some persuasion, the bear left the premises, but only after he had enjoyed the strawberry ice cream to his heart’s content,” the department explained.
The sheriff's office noted that the ice cream parlor suffered little damage from the animal's visit, and “cleaning up required minimal effort.”
Camp Richardson is a 128-acre resort complex in South Tahoe, located approximately 65 miles south of Reno, Nevada.
