If your attempts to master the drums have ended in failure, prepare to be surprised.
Now forest organisms are doing this.
A Manchester-based band demonstrate how mushrooms and flora have become full-fledged participants in the musical process.
Founded by John Ross and Andy Kidd in 2023, Bionic and the Wires generates sounds in a revolutionary way.

Special sensors record bioelectric impulses from mushrooms and plants, transforming them into musical patterns.
The received data controls bionic manipulators that interact with the instruments.
Ross explained: “The equipment reads the natural electrical impulses of plants, converting them into MIDI commands that activate mechanical limbs.”

Differences in the bioelectrical activity of mushroom and plant species create unique rhythmic patterns, offering listeners an unusual auditory experience.
The band rehearse at the Boiler House workshop in Moss Side, sourcing their mushrooms from local eco-project Sow the City.
Their goal is to transform public perception of the plant world.
“This approach allows you to establish a deep emotional connection with nature,” Ross emphasized.
