On Wednesday, scientists registered a powerful solar flare.
The official statement clarified that the event occurred on September 24 at 12:31 Moscow time, reports a correspondent for the online publication Belnovosti.
The flare was observed in X-rays in the sunspot group 4224 (S12W44) and was assigned the class M1.0.

It is also known that the duration of the outbreak was 47 minutes.
The Institute of Applied Geophysics (Federal State Budgetary Institution “IPG”) told TASS about this.
According to specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, slightly increased flare activity has been recorded for several days now.
The risks to our planet are assessed as moderate.
As a reminder, solar flares are divided into 5 classes, designated by Latin letters: A, B, C, M, and X. The criterion is the power of X-ray radiation.
Each subsequent class in this scale is ten times more powerful than the previous one.
Such flares are often accompanied by ejections of material from the solar corona. When these charged particles reach Earth, they can cause magnetic storms.
