We turned to award-winning astrophotographer Josh Durie for advice on choosing the best telescopes, and he told Live Science, “A general rule of thumb is to use a larger diameter telescope for planetary observations, as it collects more light, and a smaller telescope for a reduced field of view when observing larger galaxies and nebulae.”
