‘Empty glass’ puzzle baffles – you need high IQ to solve it

A brainteaser, asks users to move six glasses to create a new pattern – and it’s left many scratching their heads. But can you solve it in under 30 seconds?

People have been left baffled by a puzzle created to seek out the keenest minds in the country.

The puzzling conundrum, which became a hot topic on Reddit during National Puzzle Day, asks users to move six glasses to form an alternating full and empty sequence.

The question reads: “There are six glasses in a row. The first three are full, and the next three are empty. By moving only one glass how can you make them alternate between full and empty?”

While some sharp-witted souls cracked the code without hesitation, others threw in the towel. They feared shifting any glass would simply “create the wrong pattern”.

If you’re still trying to figure it out, you might want to stop scrolling now as the answer is about to be revealed.

A clever Reddit user unveiled the solution: “I assume by ‘moving only one glass’, that doesn’t necessarily mean move its position. From that, pick up the second glass, pour the contents into the fifth glass, then put the glass back where it was.”

Another endorsed this, adding: “Take the 5th glass, pour the air into the 2nd glass, displacing the liquid and causing it to jump into the glass you’re holding, which you then place back in 5th place.”

A third offered an alternative solution, advising: “Get a straw, drink the liquid in the second glass and then pee into the fifth one. Now you’ve done it without moving a single glass.”

Another user chimed in with a cheeky suggestion: “Grab the 5th glass in a sweeping motion knocking the 6th off the table. Then place the 5th glass inside the 2nd glass displacing the liquid inside.”

In response, a Redditor added: “Not the expected answer, but props for creativity.”
