It's a week of exciting new products from Apple, including the new Mac mini.
Apple fans are in for a busy week, as the American tech giant looks set to unveil several new products. We've already seen the unveiling of the powerful iMac, which now features a significantly faster M4 processor, an improved display, and new color options. A major update to the popular Mac mini is now also available.
The device, which goes on sale next week, also features an impressive set of M4 chips, which will significantly speed up tasks like photo and video editing. Those who work with large spreadsheets or play games will also see a significant performance boost, with some operations running up to 30 times faster.
There will be two processor options available: the standard M4 and the more powerful M4 Pro.
While the new chips will certainly provide a significant speed boost, the most surprising aspect of this new device is its compact size.
Apple has completely redesigned the Mac mini, which now measures just 5 inches by 5 inches. Unlike previous versions, it also has two USB-C ports on the front, making it easier to connect your smartphone or charge your Apple Watch.
The rear panel offers even more ports, as well as the ability to connect to gigabit broadband connections and multiple monitors.
As for price? Apple says it will start at £599. You can pre-order it now, with shipping starting next week.
“The new Mac mini delivers incredible performance in an incredibly small design, thanks to the power efficiency of Apple-designed silicon and innovative thermal architecture,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “With the performance of the M4 and the new M4 Pro chip, improved connectivity front and back, and Apple Intelligence built into the Mac mini, it’s more versatile and capable than ever before, and there’s no better way to do it.”
As we mentioned earlier, one of the products we officially saw was the new iMac with the M4 chip. This all-in-one is faster, comes in seven vibrant colors, has USB-C accessories, an improved 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage technology, and a 24-inch Retina 4.5K display.
It goes on sale next week, priced from £1,299.
“iMac is loved by millions of people, from families working from home to entrepreneurs working from home. With the incredible features of Apple Intelligence and the powerful performance of Apple Silicon, the new iMac once again sets new standards,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “With M4 and Apple Intelligence, stunning new colors that command attention in any space, an improved 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, and a new nano-texture glass display option, this is a whole new era for iMac.”
