A woman recently shared her frustration over a family conflict over food, which caused a storm of reaction online.
On the 24 million-member Reddit community “Am I an Asshole?”, she shared her sister's experience in a post that has garnered nearly 16,000 likes.
The woman noted that her sister moved in with her after a difficult breakup, taking with her two children, aged seven and four.
“When my sister moved in with us, I quickly realized that she liked to sleep longer,” a Reddit user shares.
“Sometimes she didn’t go to bed until one o’clock in the afternoon… I was understanding because I knew how hard it was for her to go through the separation.”

The problem arose when a sleeping sister forgot to feed her children, leaving the responsibility to the author of the Reddit post.
“My niece and nephew and I have developed a habit: everything I cook for myself for breakfast, I cook for them too – and this continued until recently,” she said.
“I woke up and wanted to make huevos rancheros. The kids immediately started complaining that they didn't like it and that they wanted something else.”
She added: “I was kind and ended up making them pancakes because it's not their fault that their mother is having a hard time.”

The next day, the children again complained that they did not want to eat potatoes and eggs for breakfast and demanded a different dish, according to the woman.
The next day they expressed their dissatisfaction again, and this finally drove the woman crazy.
“Finally, after my unwanted food critics got separate meals three mornings in a row, I told them, 'I'm no longer making two different breakfast options,'” a Reddit user wrote.
“After that she became silent and still treats me coldly.”
“If you don't like what I cook, tell Mom to get up and do it,” she told them.
Even after the kids woke up their sleeping mother that morning, she didn't come downstairs until 1:00 p.m., prompting more complaints from the kids.
The sister became furious, the report said. “She started saying that they needed to be fed at a certain time and a lot of other things, trying to deliberately hurt me.”

A Reddit user admitted she “lost it” and told her sister to “wake up and take care of your damn kids instead of expecting me to do it.”
The user concluded: “After that she went silent and still treats me coldly, but I know she expects me to apologize.”
Most of the comments about the situation were in support of the author of the post.
“The reactions are going in the right direction. There are many serious problems here.”
“Sleeping until 1pm means she's missing breakfast and lunch,” said the top commenter. “[Children] at 7 and 4 still depend on an adult for a balanced diet. Your sister is a cripple.”
Another commenter noted: “I'm guessing she's not paying rent or helping you with expenses and is just lying around
