A 20-year-old man from Ocala, Florida, has had his faith strengthened after a near-death experience.
Aidan Perry was at a friend's house in June when he was accidentally shot in the chest with a .40 caliber pistol, FOX 25 reported.
Perry was rushed to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and taken to surgery.
He successfully survived the gunshot wound.
He was wearing a gold chain with a cross, which doctors believed could split the bullet, thereby protecting vital organs from damage.

The bullet entered Perry's chest and exited near his armpit.
It then entered the body through the arm, causing a fracture of the shoulder.
Perry told FOX 35 he thought he was going to die when he saw “tons of blood.”
“It's just a reminder: never lose faith,” Perry said.
“Keep believing and God is absolutely real.”

He noted that although he had previously considered himself a religious person, after the incident his faith only grew stronger.
Trauma surgeon Jafra Garcia Henry, who performed the surgery on Perry, said the young man was “very lucky because without his chain the outcome could have been completely different.”

“When we encounter these types of injuries, they usually have devastating consequences,” Henry added.
“In Aidan's case, he was lucky that the bullet missed his chest – it bounced off the chain he was wearing.”
“God is absolutely real.”
Perry's necklace was a gift from her father last Christmas.
The man who accidentally shot Perry has been arrested in Sumter County.
According to Village-News, he is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily injury.
