Samang said: "While cutting the leaves, Oeurn accidentally hit a big nest of wasps hanging from the tree.

"Around 30 angry wasps immediately attacked both of them, inflicting multiple stings on their face, neck and chest.

"During the attack, Oeurn tried to rescue her grandson and carried him towards their house."

Samang added: "The boy died in the house shortly after."

Distressing images show the young boy lying dead in his home shortly after the wasp attack.

The grandmother was found by neighbours who rushed her to a nearby hospital.

Following the incident, Samang reminded citizens to immediately seek medical attention if attacked by wasps as their sting can sometimes be fatal.
