A woman has shared on social media the terrifying events that happened to her while living in a house built in the 1870s.
She was left in a state of great shock when she discovered horrific evidence that confirmed the tragic murder of a man in her home.
In her stories, she mentioned how, when she was in her early 20s, she and some friends rented a house built in the 1870s and one day came across newspapers buried under the floors.
On Reddit, she wrote: “I rented a haunted house and found a newspaper from 1890 under the floor. On the front page was an article about a hanged murderer. This house was a nightmare.”
But this was not the only creepy discovery she made while living in the house, as she was constantly bothered by “strange and inexplicable sounds.”
She added: “We all heard sounds when no one was in the house. Footsteps running up and down the stairs and down the hallway. Sometimes we would also see shadows of figures. The first night I was alone, the old basement door slammed shut on its own. It was locked on the covered porch, so I don't think it could have been the wind.”

Moreover, her friend swears that she saw a “tall figure of a man” standing outside her bedroom door one night, which made them move out ASAP. She said: “My bedroom was in the attic, next to my flatmate’s room. We had no doors between the rooms. One morning in the kitchen, my flatmate asked me if I had had anyone over the night before. I said no – I was alone. She said she had seen a tall figure of a man standing outside my bedroom door all night.”
The house was renovated a few years ago and the area has changed considerably – I wonder if the new owners feel the same way. “We now have a 1891 folk Victorian house and have found nothing but a child's Spider-Man glove and some old hairpins in the vents. At least one person has died in this house, but I have yet to stumble upon anything creepy!”

In the comments section of her post, one user wrote, “I have a similar story, even though I didn't own the house. In the early 2000s, the construction company I worked for was doing a wastewater treatment on an old farmhouse and found the original news articles about the case [Commonwealth v. Belenski] carefully cut out and taped to boards we found in the corner of the basement.”
“It turned out that the owners of the house at the time were murdered and buried in the backyard. Eventually, their worker was caught and convicted and sent to prison. As you can imagine, this became a very interesting investigation for our team.”
