Coronavirus prophecy: Are we living in the end times – Clock is ticking

CORONAVIRUS has fuelled concerns we are living in a time of biblical plague and pestilences – but are we truly living in the end times? A Bible expert revealed all to Express.co.uk.

The coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has infected more than 235,000 people since it first emerged in China last November. The pace at which coronavirus has spread across the globe has led many to read the Bible in search of answers.

The coronavirus has never been seen in humans before and there is no known cure or vaccine.

Many have taken these factors as evidence of the virus’ supposed connections to biblical prophecy.

According to Dr Tom Meyer, a college professor and preacher better known as The Bible Memory Man, the clock is indeed ticking on humanity.

But as the Bible expert points out, the clock has already been ticking for a long time.

Dr Meyer said: “Technically speaking, the clock started ticking for humanity living in the end days after the resurrection and ascension of Christ two thousand years ago – 1 John 2:18.

“But how close the clock is to hitting midnight, the Bible says no man knows, ‘not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows’ – Matthew 24:36.”

In recent weeks, many people have taken to social media to voice their concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

Many have likened the virus to prophecies of plague and pestilence penned in the Book of Revelation.

The Book of Revelation contains the final chapters of the Bible and outlines what will happen in the end days.

One person on Twitter said: “Bible prophecy being fulfilled with #coronavirus and globalists. The new Tower of Babel. The Lord will not allow it #antichrist coming.”

We should think of the current outbreak as a preview of things to come

Another person said: “Coronavirus Panic compared to The Book of Revelation Chapters 6-19., this should be a wake up call for informed Christians.

“Verse 6-19 is not addressing present day Christians, only those of Faith during that time.

“The leaves of the fig tree are coming on, Summer is very near.”

Dr Meyer, however, does not think the coronavirus signals the end of days just yet.

He said: “We should think of the current outbreak as a preview of things to come, the slightest taste of what life will be like during the Great Tribulation as recorded in various portions of the Old Testament and the book of Revelation.

“But Christians have the blessed hope of deliverance from the coming tribulation.

“Christians will not be present upon the unleashing of the wrath of God in the last days – 1 Thessalonians 5:9 – their fate is to be caught up to Christ in the cloud at the Rapture – 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.

“In contrast, unbelievers are appointed to suffer through the second half of the seven-year period called the Great Tribulation until Jesus Christ physically returns to earth, destroys the Antichrist, and establishes his rule in Jerusalem for 1,000 years – Revelation 19-20.

“This comfort for Christians of all ages isn’t escapism – 1 Thessalonians 4:18 – but rather reality based on Biblical authority – 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3.

Dr Meyer travels across the United States to discuss scripture and its meaning.

He is, however, most popularly known for memorising and reciting 20 completes books of the Bible, including the Book of Revelation.
