It is reported that the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive displays that have a hole in the center for the front camera.
Next September, Apple will hold a presentation of the iPhone 14. The creators have decided to reshuffle the lineup, abandoning the successor to the iPhone 13 mini. Its place will be taken by the 14 Max, which will be comparable in size to the Pro Max, but will have more modest stuffing.
iPhone 14 opted to move away from stainless steel
Sources say that the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will get OLED displays from LG with 120 hertz refresh rate. In their central part will be a hole designed for the front camera. Whether it will be round or oval is unknown. Renderers showed both versions.
New models will be equipped with a 48-megapixel camera matrix, which will allow shooting video in 8K. The top model is expected to have two terabytes of internal memory.
Apple opted to move away from stainless steel in the Pro-line. Instead they plan to use more durable titanium. Whether these changes will affect the basic versions of smartphones, it is not reported.
It will be impressive if Apple can pull off a hole-punch display design in next year’s iPhone 14 Pro. The infrared camera, flood illuminator, proximity sensor, dot projector, front camera, and other sensors and components are currently housed in the notch. Apple would have to figure out a way to cram everything in without the notch.
And sure, we can add this to the growing list of reports claiming that there will be no “small” iPhone 14 variant to pick from. For the time being, the 5.4-inch iPhone form factor appears to be on its way out.
