The iPhone update we've been waiting for could be coming soon — just don't look at the price

Apple is likely planning to unveil a stunning new iPhone that could be the most expensive device it has ever released.

Almost every Android manufacturer on the planet, including Samsung, OnePlus, Google, and Motorola, now offers foldable smartphones that can be folded in half. These devices have become quite popular among users as they offer large screens that, when folded, fit more easily into a pocket.

Despite growing competition and clear user interest in the new technology, Apple's iPhone lineup still does not include any foldable models.

There are many rumors that the American tech giant may be developing a foldable device, but details about its specifications, price and release date remain very limited.

Now, new information has emerged that could hint at what could be in the works in Cupertino, California, and that the smartphone could be launched in the near future.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has made accurate predictions in the past, the flexible iPhone could debut in 2026, meaning the wait could be just over a year.

Kuo also expects the new device to feature a book-like design similar to Samsung's Galaxy Fold series. When unfolded, users will be able to enjoy a huge 7.8-inch screen for watching movies, working, and playing games.

Some speculate that Apple will also want to make sure that this larger screen doesn't suffer from the same crease problem seen in some modern foldable models.

Other possible improvements could include an ultra-thin titanium body, long battery life, and a dual rear camera.

Kuo also suggests that Apple will ditch Face ID unlocking technology and return to Touch ID to minimize the thickness of the device.

This all sounds very interesting, but the price can be quite high.

Kuo believes Apple's first generation foldable iPhone could cost up to £2,500 (£1,940) – wow!

It's unlikely that Apple will reveal anything in September when the iPhone 17 is unveiled to the world, but 2026 could be the year Apple finally starts competing with Android.
